Spiti Valley Tour (6 Days / 5 Nights) – Land of Lamas

Arrive in Kullu or Manali and begin your scenic journey to Spiti Valley, known as the “Land of Lamas.” The road journey will take you through rugged mountain terrain and picturesque villages. On the way, stop at Rohtang Pass for a quick photo session and enjoy the panoramic views. Continue the drive to Kunzum Pass, the gateway to Spiti, before reaching your overnight stay in Kaza, the administrative headquarters of Spiti Valley.

  • Morning: Arrival in Manali: Arrive in Manali, a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh. It's best to arrive by early morning or previous night to have enough time to rest and begin your journey towards Spiti Valley.
  • Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel or a local café in Manali.
  • Late Morning / Afternoon:
  • Drive to Spiti Valley: Start your journey to Spiti Valley from Manali. You will travel through Rohtang Pass (which may be closed in winters), Atal Tunnel, and the Keylong route. The journey takes about 8–10 hours (depending on road conditions), with breathtaking views of the mountains, valleys, and villages.
  • Lunch on the Way: Stop for lunch in small dhabas or cafés along the route.
  • Evening: Arrival in Kaza: Arrive in Kaza, the main town of Spiti Valley, in the evening. Kaza is situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters and is the administrative center of the valley.
  • Check-in: Check-in to your hotel or guesthouse in Kaza, freshen up, and rest.
  • Night: Dinner: Enjoy a warm, hearty meal at your hotel or in a local café. Rest for the night to acclimatize to the high altitude.

  • Drive to Kibber Village: Begin your exploration with a drive to Kibber Village (approx. 9 km from Kaza), one of the highest villages in the world, situated at 4,150 meters. Kibber is known for its monasteries and stunning landscapes.
  • Late Morning: Visit Kibber Monastery: Visit the Kibber Monastery, perched on the cliffs and offering panoramic views of the Spiti Valley. It’s an important monastery and is famous for its annual festival.
  • Afternoon: Drive to Tashigang: Continue to Tashigang Village, one of the highest settlements in Spiti. You can enjoy a short walk around the village and interact with the locals.
  • Visit Chicham Bridge: Head towards Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia. It connects the Kibber Village with the Spiti Valley and offers amazing views of the deep gorges and barren landscapes of Spiti.
  • Evening: Return to Kaza: After your exploration, return to Kaza in the evening.
  • Dinner: Enjoy dinner at your accommodation in Kaza.

It is located at an altitude of 4,166 meters and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the valley below. Key Monastery is known for its Tibetan Buddhist culture and history.
  • Late Morning: Drive to Tabo: After visiting Key, drive to Tabo Village (approximately 50 km). Tabo is known for the Tabo Monastery, which is over 1,000 years old and is often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” due to its ancient murals and paintings.
  • Afternoon: Visit Tabo Monastery: Explore the monastery and the ancient murals. The monastery complex also has several small temples, meditation rooms, and prayer halls
  • Evening:
  • Return to Kaza: Head back to Kaza in the evening after visiting Tabo.
  • Dinner: Enjoy a warm meal at your accommodation.

  • Morning:
  • Breakfast: Have breakfast and check out of your accommodation in Kaza.
  • Drive to Manali: Begin your journey back to Manali. The journey takes 8-10 hours, and you will retrace your route through Rohtang Pass and Keylong.

  • Lunch on the Way: Stop for lunch at a roadside restaurant on the way back.
  • Arrive in Manali: Arrive in Manali by evening.
  • Night:
  • Departure: Depending on your onward travel arrangements, you can either relax for the night in Manali or catch a bus back to your next destination.
